Skin overview

Battle-Scarred is the most corroded form of Nova | Rust Coat, with the shotgun covered almost entirely in brown and orange rust. The dark base is reduced to small traces, and the weapon reads as a single rusty object. For this finish, heavy wear is the point rather than a drawback.

Item type: shotgun. Industrial Grade is the second tier from the bottom: common skins from drops and collections.

Patina: an aged metal surface; wear is part of the design, so the gap between qualities is less visible.

The remaining qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.

Appearance in Battle-Scarred

The barrel and receiver are finished in dark gunmetal close to black, with a subtle reddish-brown patina showing through the surface. The pump forend stands out in a muted grey-teal with deep horizontal ribs, and the area around the muzzle cap carries a lighter metal edge.

Nearly every part of the shotgun is covered in rust, from the muzzle to the end of the stock. Only small traces of the dark base survive. In game the Nova reads as a uniformly rusty, warm-coloured weapon. This is the full expression of the corrosion theme rather than damage on top of it.

Battle-Scarred quality — float range 0.45–0.8

The whole float range of Souvenir Nova | Rust Coat is 0–0.8; Battle-Scarred takes the 0.45–0.8 segment (44% of the scale). Within the range, copies with a lower float look cleaner and are valued higher.

Origin of the skin

The skin’s collection is The Havoc Collection with 19 skins in total. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

What it costs in each quality

Among 3 skins of the Nova in the Industrial Grade grade and this quality, this skin ranks 2nd by price, counting from the dearest.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

Warm copper, brown, orange and gold stickers blend with the rust tones, while matte black or dark metallic ones suit the cleaner wears. Placements on the receiver side work best, as the ribbed forend breaks up sticker artwork.

What to look at before you buy

  • Decide how much rust you want, since on this skin the amount of corrosion grows with the float rather than just adding scratches.
  • Within one wear, compare the float position, because a low-float copy looks darker and a high-float copy rustier than the grade name suggests.
  • Look at the forend ribs and receiver edges in the inspect view, as they show rust first.
  • Check applied stickers and name tags, since they stay on the item.

Who the Battle-Scarred quality suits

  • Players who want the rust theme in its fullest form.
  • Budget buyers entering the skin at its most affordable grade.
  • Conclusion: the most characterful version of Rust Coat.
