Skin overview

In Well-Worn the grey swirls are broken up by clearly visible worn patches on the protruding parts of the rifle. The overall impression stays dark and muted, so the skin still looks coherent. It is a low-cost way to replace the default SSG 08 finish.

Item type: sniper rifle. Consumer Grade is the lowest tier of the rarity scale: the most common skins, most often used in trade-up contracts.

Hydrographic: the pattern is applied as a film over the metal; wear rubs it down to the base, starting with raised parts.

Other qualities of this skin: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Battle-Scarred.

How the skin looks in Well-Worn

The hydrographic smoke pattern covers the handguard, receiver, stock and pistol grip in swirling grey, black and pale tones. The barrel, muzzle brake, scope and bipod stay dark metal, framing the patterned parts.

Worn patches spread across the handguard edges, the cheek rest and the grip, breaking up the swirls. The stock corners look clearly rubbed. At normal distance the rifle appears darker and more uneven. The central surfaces of the receiver still carry the pattern.

Well-Worn quality — float range 0.38–0.45

The whole float range of Souvenir SSG 08 | Grey Smoke is 0–0.6; Well-Worn takes the 0.38–0.45 segment (12% of the scale). The lower the float within the range, the cleaner the surface looks and the higher a copy is usually priced.

Origin of the skin

Souvenir SSG 08 | Grey Smoke belongs to The Ascent Collection, which holds 28 skins. It does not drop from a case: the collection has none — such skins come from operation drops, souvenir packages or the market.

Souvenir version

This is the Souvenir version: such copies dropped to tournament viewers in souvenir packages; the team stickers and signatures on them cannot be removed or chosen. Souvenir items never carry StatTrak™. There is also the regular version without tournament stickers.

Stickers and crafts

The monochrome finish works with black, white and silver stickers for a uniform look. A single bright sticker on the handguard or receiver makes a strong accent against the grey.

What to check before buying

• Check where the float sits within the wear grade, since the lower end shows fewer scuffs on the edges.
• Look at the handguard edges and the grip, as these lose the pattern first.
• Souvenir copies come with stickers already applied, so make sure you like them before buying.
• On a plain grey finish a name tag stands out more, so check whether one is attached.
